The Ministry of Labor and Social politics has closed the doors for the Daily Center for Street Children!!!
On 01.04.2008, the Ministry of labor and social politics’ Commission for cooperation with citizen’s associations, made the decision to stop the resources intended for donations for the FIRST CHILDREN”S EMBASSY IN THE WORLD-MEGJASHI in order to realize the project Daily Center for street children in amount of 80000 MKD on monthly basis.

Global Action Week 2008
Firstly I would like to congratulate you for the successful leadership in the campaign for the 2008 “Quality education for All: End Exclusion Now!’’, especially to congratulate for the world record where 7.5 million of pupils worldwide attended the World’s Biggest Lesson. 

Our celebrity, Vlatko Stefanovski participated in the Global Action Week 2008
On the occasion of the World’s Biggest School Lesson, the worldly famous macedonian musician Vlatko Stefanovski was guest in the first grade class in the Primary School “Jan Amos Komenski”, Skopje.

Visit at the Euro Ambassador Erwan Fouere
The Euro ambassador Erwan Fouere gave his support to this year’s campaign and he expressed his continuous support for activities intended for the child’s rights protection. 

“Children’s Rights on the Internet- Safe and Protected” CRISP
On May 6th, 7th and 8th 2008, a seminar was held in hotel Klimetica, Ohrid, as part of the work plan of the project “Protection and safety of children and their rights on Internet”- CRISP.

Reaction and demand for prevention and bigger engagement of the state institutions in the matter of child protection, support and help regarding the child abuse and sexual violence
Regarding the latest case of incest, child abuse and rape in Rashche, Skopje, as for the attempt for rape on a seven year old girl in Dobrevo, Probishtip; The First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi calls for the most severe condemnation and punishment of the child abusers and rapists. 

Request for institutional responsibility in the matter of protection of children victims of sexual abuse and request for more rigid punishment for the abusers
On the occasion of the recent four cases of incest and rape on his own daughter (12) and her friend (12 ), children mentally disabled, by T.P.(51) from Bogomila, H.D.(35) from Veles, suspect for an attempt of rape on his step daughter(14), Macedonian citizen Ljupco V. arrested in Herceg Novi, Montenegro since he was suspected for touching minors and Jove K. from Sthip suspected for rape of two 13 year old children fro the orphanage” 11 th October from Skopje on June 30, 2008, THE FIRST CHILDREN’S EMBASSY IN THE WORLD-MEGJASHI had to react on the matter.

Reaction and demand of responsibility
Yesterday, 18th of March 2008, in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, police officers arrested a group of 11 years old minors and brought them in for an informative conversation. The group of 10 children was taken without informing the parents of these children, the Director of neither the school nor any of the teachers or the psychologist in the school. This is our reaction to the media, concerning this problem:

Child-witness WHO DEMANDS SPECIAL CARE
In the period November -February, the actvities about the project “Child-witness with special needs” continued. An adaptations of the poster “Your Honour, I’m scared” and the booklet “ I am going to court” were made and their printing is expected untill the end of March. The poster and the booklet are to be distributed to the courts and the police stations, becouse there are to be use by the profecional workers who work with children as witnesses.

INTERVIWING CHILDREN WITNESSES IN A POLICE PROCEDURE
The First Children’s Embassy in the World – Megjashi on 25th and 27th March 2008 organized one day’s workshops on theme “Interviewing children witnesses in the police procedure”.

Within the project “Child is a witness who demands special care”, the book “Going to court” was printed.

Appeal to the Political parties
The First Children’s Embassy in the World- Megjashi on the occasion of the forthcoming parliament elections in Republic of Macedonia and the electoral campaigns, points out the necessity to protect the children of abuse and manipulation in achieving political goals. 

June 12th, the World Day Against Child Labour
On the occasion of June 12th, the World Day Against Child Labour, The First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi reminds that although Republic of Macedonia has ratified the Convention Against The Worst Forms of Child Labour, 7 years ago, the situation is still alarming.

13th Exhibition of Stefan Pleskonikj- Child Ambassador of the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi
On May 5th 2008, the 13th individual exhibition of Stefan Pleskonikj was held in the center of culture “Mala Stanica” in Skopje. The student-artist marked ten years of his art. The exhibition of our Child Ambassador comprised around thirty paintings created during the past decay, which were also exhibited on many international exhibitions

Demand of responsibility for child maltreatment in a group visit to JErusalem (travel without visas and major organizational defaults)

REPORT ON THE WORK OF THE SOS-TELEPHONE FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE (FREE toll HELPLINE) 01.03.2008-01.05.2008
The free SOS telephone for children and young people (0800 1 22 22) is the first of this kind in our country and it functions continuously for over 15 years as part of the FIRST CHILDREN’S EMBASSY IN THE WORLD-MEGJASHI.

May 17, International Child Helpline Day
There are many reasons why children dial the free SOS phone line 0800 1 22 22. Perhaps it’s about a problem or they just need to talk to someone. Children are one of the most disadvantaged groups in the society because of the lack of information, support and help when they need it the most.

REPORT ON THE FREE LEGAL SERVICE FOR THE PERIOD OF MARCH-MAY 2008
In the period march-may 2008 the free legal service in the FIRST CHILDRENS EMBASSY IN THE WORLD-MEGJASHI reacted in 27 cases regarding the children’s rights. We sent 14 requests to the centers for social services, to the police or some other institution. In 6 cases we sent presumptions to the Ombudsman and in 7 cases we offered our legal help and legal counseling to the person who came in our embassy.

From 12th to 15th of May 2008 the second meeting of the Informal regional network for monitoring of the children’s rights was organized. The organizer of the meeting was “Save the Children” from Sweden and Norway, and the following organizations took part of it:

Humanitarian donations appeal
The 15 months old Emanuel Ajivazi is suffering from cellberal cysts. He needs urgent medical care, which his parents can not financially provide him. We make an appeal for humanitarian donations so that we can help Emanuel to get better and live a happy and healthy childhood.

The First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi has continued with the action of shampoo donations, in partnership with Nelt ST Procter & Gamble.

SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGE SKOPJE
In the name of the children from the SOS children’s village Skopje, we thank you for your donation of shampoos. We’ve carefully distributed them to our SOS families.

Roli Hope Odeka
The Diplomacy Adviser for children to the Ambassador in Rome, Italy of the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi, Republic of Macedonia, is an Italian artiste of a Nigerian origin. She is a writer, a painter, poet and music composer. 

Support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation presented by the Office for cooperation in Skopje
On 01.04.2008, on basis of the agreement for technical support between the Government of Republic of Macedonia and the Government of Swiss is signed on 26 of October 1999, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation presented by the Office for Cooperation in Skopje, gave the institutional support for the First Children’s Embassy in the World – Megjashi, Republic of Macedonia, in a total sum of 30.000 CHF for the period from 01.04.2008 to 30.04.2009.
