Training about monitoring CRCDuring the month of November 2010 at the Hotel Alpina in Mavrovo a training was held to monitor children’s rights as part of the project “Capacity Building of the NGOs in monitoring children’s rights.” Representatives of the Macedonian National Coalition for the Rights of the Child (informal) whose coordinator is the First Children’s Embassy in the World. The participants at this training were the representatives of the Embassy Megjashi Jana Grozdanovska coordinator of the SOS helpline for children and young and Katerina Koneska who is the program manager. Also active participation was taken by the representatives from the following organizations of the Macedonian Coalition on the Rights of the Child:

The training emphasis was placed on defining and monitoring the children’s rights and it was discussed in detail the situation with the rights of children in Macedonia. Members of the organization shared their experience and the problems that are faced by the civil society organizations were considered. At the end of the training the civil society organizations had the opportunity to meet with the representatives from the National Committee on the Rights of the child to talk about and inform them on their observations, the ways to inform the governmental institutions, and statistical data processing. The increasing of partnerships was also discussed.

The training during the month of April 2011 in the hotel Klimetica in Ohrid was held by Mrs.Shantel MekKab, an experienced consultant with whom UNICEF has a partnership.

The main goal of this training was each of the coalitions involved in this project to develop specific indicators for each Article of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the recommendations of the Committee on the rights of the Child in Geneva, needed to monitor the situation of children, monitoring an implantation of the Convention on the Rights of the Children. We had the opportunity to meet with a representative of the office for the social security whom informed us on the manner of processing statistical data which they process. We were informed about two databases of information that could be used before the preparation of the report that will be presented on November 2011th. The data will be processed to cover the period from June 2010 to June 2011. The representatives of the First Children’s Embassy in the World were Katerina Koneska program manager and Jana Grozdanovska coordinator of the SOS line for children and teenagers.

Active participation was also taken by the following representatives of the Macedonian National Coalition for the Rights of the Child (informal) whose coordinator is the First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi.
