Local Supervision – Overview of the system of child support and the institutionalization in Macedonia

The First Children`s Embassy in the World as part of the project Childhood without abuse – toward better system for child protection in Eastern Europe in July organized a supervision on the topic - Overview of the system of child support and the institutionalization in Macedonia.


The participants of the Local Supervision were professionals from different institutions, representatives and directly engaged in the child protection system in Macedonia (Ministry for Labor and Social Politics, Institute for Social Work, Centre for Social Work of the city of Skopje, Day care centre for children on the street, Sector for internal affaires – Skopje,  Institutions for children without parental care, First children’s embassy in the world).   

As key activity at the Supervision the participant has made a flow chart of the system of child protection in Macedonia. Working in groups everyone has an opportunity to contribute with his professional experience and knowledge to the final flow chart. Presented flow chart gave them an opportunity to have a clear and precise perception of the system for child protection, upon which a discussion was raised in order to overview the structure and the communication and collaboration between the elements of the system, the weakness and the strengths of the system and make a suggestions for future activities, and need for support.

All participants have a chance to open and overview important questions regarding the system and vulnerable themes and spotting the problems within the system for child protection in Macedonia in critical and self-critical manner, to make a conclusions about the weakness of the system for child protection in Macedonia in order to increase its efficiency and quality, to establish a mutual support, to exchange knowledge and experience about the child care, to make a suggestions for future steps, to increase and strengthen multidisciplinary approach to the child abuse.
