River festival by the river VardarWithin the framework of the cultural manifestation Sko-September, under the auspices of the Youth Cultural Centre and the City Skopje, from September 29, Monday, to October 2, Thursday, Eco festival took place on the bank of the river Vardar.

The festival is a fusion of the urban, the city, the culture (most widely understood) and the nature, the river, the natural habitat. The main goal of this festival was to raise the ecological awareness of the citizens on the meaning of the river Vardar for the city and its purpose in the creation of a healthy living ambience around the area of the entire Skopje.

The program of the festival is designed to include several target groups, among them being schools, young artists, non-governmental sector, activists and volunteers, public institutions, enterprises.

The First Children’s Embassy in the World - Megjashi actively participated in the program each of the four days, on many issues and locations.

Schedule of the program by weekdays on the Embassy Megjashi’s participation:

Monday

 
Flower kingdom

The applied arts workshop of 11 children made flowers and vases from plastic bags and plastic bottles

Cold asphalt

13 children in-line skated and rode their bikes to show different ways in which children can recreate on the bank of the river Vardar.

Circus workshops

6 children performed their circus skills such as juggling, with diabolo, balls, plates and circles.

Stand

At the stand were sold handcrafts which are a part of the self-sustainability program, made by Megjashi’s volunteers.

Tuesday

 
Origami workshop

With newspaper and colored paper, objects were made such as fish, boat, flower etc.

Banners and masks

15 children wore masks and carried banners with paroles for protection of the environment.

Circus workshops

Many children performed their circus skills such as juggling, with diabolo, balls, plates and circles.

Stand

At the stand were sold handcrafts which are a part of the self-sustainability program, made by Megjashi’s volunteers.

Wednesday

Applied arts workshop

In this workshop, photo frames were made from carton and other materials, in order to show how waste material can be used for creative handcrafts.

Colorful asphalt

At the bank of the river Vardar, the children had the chance to make various drawings on ecology and the river Vardar as a subject, using colored chalk.

Circus workshops

A few children performed their circus skills such as juggling, with diabolo, balls, plates and circles.

At the stand were sold handcrafts which are a part of the self-sustainability program, made by Megjashi’s volunteers.

Thursday

Art workshop

The children drew sketches on ecology, the city Skopje, and the river Vardar.

Fisherman stories

In this program, beside the older participants, the young appeared with recitals on the river Vardar and on clean living environment.

Circus workshops

A few children performed their circus skills such as juggling, with diabolo, balls, plates and circles.
