Proposed regulations for protection of juvenile audience from programs harmful for their psycho-physical development

On the 18th of January 2007, The Broadcasting Standards Council in cooperation with Rotary Club-“Stone Bridge” and The First Children’s Embassy in the World-Megjashi organized tribune on the following theme-“Protection of the juvenile television audience from programs that have negative effects to their psycho-physical development”.

This tribune was a part of a public debate connected with the bringing of suggested-Book of rules for protection of the juvenile television audience from programs that have negative effects to their physical, mental and/or moral development. Many Medias, institutions and organizations in Republic of Macedonia took part in the tribune. Among them were: The first program of the Macedonian radio, TV stations Sitel, A1, AlSat-M, Telma, and Channel 5, radio-Channel 77, Organization of the consumers, Faculty for drama arts, NGO-Civil and the Ombudsman.

The Book of rules is an implementation of the regulation in article 71, paragraph 3 of the Law for Broadcasting Standards as a legal foundation which authorities The Broadcasting Standards Council to create compulsory regulations for classifying television programs, according to the expected audience structure in different periods of the day.


Categories, programs and time periods:


 

 

First category- it is emitted twenty-four hours

 

Second category-it is emitted in the period between 17:00-05:00 o’clock;

 

Third category- it is emitted between 21:00-05:00 o’clock;

 

Fourth category- it is emitted between 22:00-05:00 o’clock;

 

Fifth category- it is emitted between 00:00-05:00 o’clock;
