Trust in civic organizations according to the subsectors in which they are active

The trust of citizens towards civic organizations according to the subsectors in which they are active is almost identical to the previous years. Namely, the order of the sectors has remained unchanged, while there is a difference in terms of the percentage of the increased level of trust. The organizations that deal with issues from the area of children, youth and students, then the organizations of/for people with special needs and the organizations that focus on gender issues continue to be the three leading subsectors. Increase in the level of trust is noted in all subsectors, in some for even more that fifteen percentage points as is the case with the leading subsector- children, youth and students. It is also positive that for all subsectors there are positive answers that mean that presence of trust dominates in relation to the lack of trust in the respective subsector. This is different from 2010 when the 5 subsectors that were ranked the lowest and what dominated was lack of trust in relation to presence of trust.

The students and youth continue to be the largest supporters of civic organizations. If in 2010 we noted that if we base our stance in the fact that youth and students are the future of all countries, and with the then shown trust of 55,1% we concluded that development and greater civic activism is expected to happen for the civic organizations and the civic society in Macedonia, now this conclusion has been confirmed because an increase in trust has been noted with regard to civic society in general,  and a huge amount of increase in trust from the side of youth and students has been noted specifically meaning that the level of trust now is 69% which means that there is an increase of 77%.

Megjashi and the Red Cross, most recognized organizations by the citizens of Macedonia

An increase in the level of information and recognition in relation to 2008 and 2010 can be noted with regard to part of the top ranked rganizations Megjashi and the Red Cross, for whom the majority of the citizens know

Knowledge about the civic organizations

The citizens were asked to indicate one or more successful civic organizations, i.e. organizations that according to them are active and achieve results. The majority of the citizens (53,8 %)  are able to mention a successful civic organization, similar to the situation in 2010 (52,6 %). In total 80 concrete organizations have been stated by at least one citizen. The first ten organizations that the citizens recognize as successful are: The Red Cross, Most, Megjashi, El Hilal, SOS Children’s Village, FOSM, AJM, Akva, Aman and the Women’s Organization from Sveti Nikole. Five organizations from the ones mentioned above were stated as being most successful also in 2008 and in 2010 (The Red Cross, Most, Megjashi, El Hilal and FOSM).  More than 70% of the citizens have heard for fifteen of the 31 organizations that were analyzed. Except for the Red Cross, that is recognizable for many citizens, Most, Megjashi and SOS Children’s Village, AJM, and HCHRM are also recognizable for a large majority of citizens. As far as other organizations are concerned, les that half of the respondents recognize them..
